Color Consultant and Subjective Metrologist
My work as an applied color scientist and colorist has a lot of overlap: I am an expert at collecting internal information and turning it into an external result. Through thoughtful methodology and inventive use of existing metrics/technology, I’ve been able to clarify and codify what matters in color communication. Here’s some of the ways I work that make me unique.

Human Question Atlas
Find a good question that connects a shared experience to a destination.
I begin by looking at a problem, such as “make this scene look like the hottest day of the year,” or “why doesn’t anybody like using this pipeline?” and look for one discrete question to answer at a time.

Normalizing Spaces
Even the playing field when asking the big question.
Sometimes that means educating everybody on the correct vocabulary, sometimes that means doing some color model conversions so we’re measuring something meaningful.

Subjective Metrology
Ask the question consistently, so the answers are repeatable and reliable.
We can have accurate devices all we want, but if we don’t collect it the same way every time it won’t precisely distinguish real trends and preferences.

Repurposing Available Metrics
Lean on multiple perspectives to to find an appropriate way to measure experience.
I have deep knowledge of specialized tools in colorimetry but tend to apply them in different ways due to my art foundation.

Information Filtration
Like a light filter, I determine what’s important and highlight it.
What’s worse than having too little information? Have so much information the important stuff gets lost.

What Really Counts
I am motivated by real products, for real customers, made by real people.
There are a lot of different reasons you might hire me: to make art, to help other artists make their work land consistently, to help quantify how consumers are engaging with your product or to make technical workflows feel more intuitive and less forced. But at the core of it, I’m only going to take on a challenge if I can be a part of a real solution that matters.
